Debbie's Parmesan Cheese Straws

½ of a box of frozen puff pastry (I used Pepperidge Farm)
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
dash of cayenne pepper
Thaw puff pastry according to package directions. On floured surface roll out one puff pastry sheet into a rectangle about 20 by 14 inches. Sprinkle half of the Parmesan cheese over the dough and press it into the dough with the rolling pin. Fold the dough in half crosswise and roll it again to 20 by 14 inches. Sprinkle on remaining cheese and just a bit of cayenne pepper (to taste), pressing it into the dough with the rolling pin again. Cut the dough into ½ inch strips. Take each strip by its ends and twist several times. Arrange the strips on a piece of parchment paper so they are just touching each other to prevent untwisting. Slide a baking sheet under the parchment and bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool for 5 minutes then cut apart any strips that are connected. Store airtight.
