Borders Group, Inc.

giving locally

By hosting special fundraising Benefit Days and other special events to benefit local not-for-profits, Borders stores nationwide give back to their local communities.

Benefit Days
In 1981, Borders Book Shop in Ann Arbor began offering local organizationsand schools a program called Book Days for fundraising and library enrichment.Borders stores nationwide continue this tradition with theBenefit Days program.

Interested local nonprofits, schools and libraries invite their friends and supporters to shop at their local Borders location during a specified weekend. The organizations are responsible for publicizing fundraising opportunities by distributing benefit coupons. Borders gives back a percentage of the proceeds (after tax) from the purchases of supporters during the weekend as a donation.

Holiday Gift Wrapping
During the busy holiday season every year, volunteers from local nonprofit organizations may work as gift wrappers in Borders stores on the weekends and on many weeknights. Though the wrapping service is free, customers are encouraged to donate to the charity.
